OUR STORY
Alternativo’s story began in the year of 2020 with the idea of changing the way things are done and built in such a magical place as it is Tulum. Under this premise, Architect Alexis Robles, with this vision, formed the studio to take on mostly local projects but with a global engagement.
Gathering trough different work scenarios add up to more than 15 years of experience in different architecture firms in various parts of the world. The experience gained throughout the years, combined with a deep sense of beauty and functionalism along with a great respect for the magnificent local nature of the region, are the core elements behind every piece of design created in the studio.
OUR GOALS
Using thoughtfully the best local materials, the craftsmanship and techniques of artisans of the region to create spaces in harmony with the nature and the immediate surroundings.
Sustainability and design together is, what we believe, ultimately gives a truly sense of being utterly connected to the lush surroundings while taken care of it at the same time.
We are specially fond and attracted by the idea of the effects in the aesthetics that time and other elements of nature that we have no control of make into the surfaces, volumes or even the vegetation of any particular building, embracing these raw sublime imperfections makes a more meaningful architecture.
